Jessica Yahn – Metropolitan Weddings Featured Photographer
Growing up Jessica was fascinated with her grandmother’s film camera and lenses. She never thought photography would become her career. Acting, music and dancing was more her style; but in college her love for photography began to blossom. Jessica first realized photography was more than a passing interest after frequenting local concerts. The stage lights and their movements mesmerized her and made her want to experiment with lighting and how different it can make subjects appear. As her husband was in the military, she started taking photos of families and military homecomings. Jessica soon found she preferred taking photos of couples. When her husband’s time in the military was over, she booked her first wedding. From then on, she studied in online classes, workbooks and workshops to hone her skills and soak up as much knowledge about photography as possible. Perhaps one of the most memorable photo sessions for Jessica was during her first destination wedding in the Cayman Islands. She became close with the bride throughout the occasion, but lost her passport on the airplane and had to go through Border Patrol.
Jessica describes her photography style as “emotional and timeless.” She loves for every session to reflect each couple’s individual style, as well as staying true to the scenery of the location. Spending time with her family and reading is how Jessica spends her free time, as well as celebrating the love of every couple she has photographed.
Dream Photo Session
“If there is a couple, head over heels in love–I want to take their photos. If I could pick a location it would probably have to be Hawaii. We lived there for several years, and even though I grew up in Missouri, Hawaii still feels like home in my heart! I would love to have a couple of destination weddings in Hawaii every year!”
